Engineering Manager

for our BootStack team, which designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure, including Kubernetes and OpenStack. This role is ideal for a technologist passionate about Linux and Cloud technologies, eager to build a career with Canonical and drive success for users of Ubuntu and open source products. This is a globally remote role. Role Responsibilities: Manage and grow an engineering team to optimize quality and velocity of development and operations Identify and monitor team health indicators Implement disciplined engineering and operational processes Represent the BootStack team with stakeholders, customers, and external teams Ensure focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables Meet service level agreements for global customer deployments Deliver high-quality managed services consistently and timely Candidate Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology field Proven experience in software delivery (Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar) and/or managing operations teams Experience with OpenStack Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code Linux system administration experience, Ubuntu/Debian preferred Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience with agile methodologies Experience managing distributed teams Technical understanding of complex distributed systems Knowledge of cloud topologies and technologies Willingness to travel up to 20% for team and customer meetings Benefits: Distributed work environment with biannual in-person team sprints USD 2,000 annual learning and development budget Annual compensation review and performance bonuses Additional benefits aligned with company values Flexible holiday and parental leave policies Access to wellness programs and assistance Opportunities for travel and meeting colleagues in person About Canonical: Canonical is a pioneer in open source, publishing Ubuntu—the platform for AI, IoT, and cloud.
