The Senior Associate, Communications and Development supports the implementation of strategic internal, external communications and marketing efforts to drive external awareness and engagement with potential supporters and people working in early childhood and related fields. This position works across Start Early Washington teams, including Policy and Advocacy Program, Operations, and includes coordination and collaboration with Start Early National Marketing and Communications and Development teams. Additionally, this role supports ongoing fundraising and donor engagement efforts for Start Early Washington. Reporting to the Director Development & Communication, SEWA, you will:

Internal and External Communications: In partnership with the Director of Development & Communication, ensure consistent and audience-appropriate messaging across all internal and external communication channels including: Building and maintaining brand awareness Execute integrated stakeholder engagement strategy to expand SEWA’s reach and influence in early childhood and related fields with practitioners, policymakers, advocates and potential funders Coordinate content generation and website support with internal Start Early teams including drafting and maintaining SEWA team member BIOs and Blog profiles Update web content and create/coordinate new landing pages for blog posts, event pages, donation forms, other as needed in coordination with national Mar-Comm team leads Working with the Policy and Advocacy Team, ensure that updated Policy content is finalized, formatted and shared publicly through multiple venues (may include weekly Bill Tracker, Notes from Olympia newsletter and other resources in a responsive and timely manner Provide content development (writing blog posts, newsletter content and other web copy as needed) Follow SEO best practices when developing new web content Maintain website assets including Policy documents, Home Visiting and SEWA content Prepare and execute relevant press releases in partnership with national Communications team Update and maintain external communication press and media lists, including separate funder and prospect contact lists Marketing: In partnership with national Digital team, manage day-to-day support of social media channels – including developing social copy, creating social graphics, posting, community management and tracking and measurement. Responsible for maintaining SEWA social media, editorial and associated marketing and communications calendars in coordination with national team calendar Coordinate and execute SEWA emails in Marketing Cloud, building and testing sends and reporting out on performance. Oversee email calendar and partner cross-functionally to maintain proper spacing for sends by WA and national audience (Funder newsletter, WA Newsletter, serve as backup for Notes from Olympia, etc.) Support the maintenance of brand assets and help with internal socialization of new materials (visual guide, branded templates, images, etc.). Serve as SEWA’s HomeRoom intranet content manager Support development of new digital creative and other marketing materials as needed for campaigns (website graphics, external creative, etc.). Project manage campaign asset development (develop timelines, identify external support if needed, route for feedback, etc.) Development: Provide support for new grant proposals and annual Funder reports including research, drafting, coordinating with other team members, and project management. In partnership with the Director of Development & Communication provide prospect research (including funding history, timeline for submittals, etc.) Provide support for funder communication, future campaign development and support General Team Responsibilities: Contribute to collaborative, supportive and cross-team culture Support quarterly retreats and team building Administration: Execute meeting preparation and coordination including, but not limited to, scheduling, agenda creation, notetaking, teleconference software management, and meeting follow up. Assist with project management and operations the planning, execution, data management, and monitoring of project work plans, timelines, and priorities for internal and external partners. Provide administrative support for travel, meetings, scheduling and other functional support. Perform other job-related duties as requested. Qualifications:

BA/BS required. Marketing, Communications major preferred or equivalent experience Preference for WA state candidate, but open to out of state Commitment to centering diversity, access, and inclusion in the workplace Strong organizational skills and/or project management skills Strong writing and editing skills including digital content and Blog experience Strong written, verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully work with a diverse range of key collaborators. Understanding of digital marketing concepts, strategies, and execution best practices 3-5 years of experience in digital execution Familiarity with content management systems; WordPress experience preferred Familiarity with email marketing systems and building and executing emails Executing social media posts across channels (Twitter/X) and community management Working knowledge of graphic design tools Knowledge of early childhood and social service programs, research, policy issues and/or nonprofit organizational issues a plus Familiarity with Development and Grant Writing, grants management a plus Experience with Zoom webinars, sessions, or events a plus Comfort and ability to work remotely Marketing Cloud (formerly ExactTarget), WordPress, GA4, Adobe Creative or Canva (experience required), SmartSheet, Google Tag Manager, Cision, UTM tracking, SEO experience, Salesforce or donor mgmt CRM (experience preferred) Zoom Webinars or Events experience a plus We recognize that few candidates might meet every single piece of knowledge, experience, or education listed here. The base annual salary will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, as well as business needs and limitations.
