Description
The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting operations, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk.
Roles & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data to internal and external stakeholders. Manage the consolidation of financial statements for multiple locations.
Accounting Operations:
Ensure all accounting processes align with company policies and regulatory requirements. Prepare detailed schedules for purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, notes payable. Maintain Fixed asset subledger and capex schedules. Maintain schedules for accrued expenses, equity, goodwill, and intangibles. Record monthly journal entries for amortization and depreciation. Conduct P&L analysis for assigned SG&A accounts. Perform actual vs. plan variance analysis. Handle other ad hoc projects as assigned.
Controls and Compliance:
Support the Controller with external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
Strategic Planning:
Provide financial analysis and strategic support to senior management, including cost-benefit analysis and financial performance analysis. Collaborate with operational leaders to drive financial performance and achieve company goals.
System Implementation and Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency within the accounting function. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of new fixed asset systems.
Skills & Experience CPA or Master’s in Accounting is highly preferred. Experience with acquisition accounting is preferred. Purchasing accounting experience is preferred. Advanced Excel skills (e.g., INDEX MATCH, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, ophthalmology, or multi-location practice management. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with EHR systems is a plus. Proven leadership and team management skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
