The Reliability Engineer is responsible for the health and oversight of a comprehensive a reliability centered maintenance program. The RCM program improves reliability, reduces indirect and repair cost, improves production uptime, and elucidates the level of risk the organization is managing.
nnDuties & Responsibilities
n- n
- Track & categorize reliability related downtime n
- Aggregate and present plant equipment failure and production interruption failure data. n
- Develop high impact long term reliability improvement strategy that addresses and methodically reduces plant equipment failures and reduces production interruption. n
- Assemble and monitor reliability improvement corrective action plan (CAP) n
- Participate in and facilitate Root Cause Analysis efforts n
- Develop reliability improvement training materials for maintenance and production teams n
- Work closely with Maintenance, Production employees, suppliers and vendors to understand and resolve reliability issues impacting production n
- Work closely with reliability technician on equipment inspections, and over sight of predictive technologies n
- Update PMs to reflect reliability improvements and address RCA corrective actions n
- Optimize critical spare equipment/spare parts inventory n
- Follow cGMP maintenance requirements on Halocarbon’s FDA regulated processes n
- Develop contractor bid scopes and manage contractors as needed to drive reliability projects forward n

Level of Supervision Needed

- Reliability Engineer is an independent, self-directed role where goals and objectives are developed with input from Plant Manager, Production Manager and Maintenance Manager. n
- Reliability Engineer is accountable for trend line improvement in reliability related uptime, and cost reduction improvements. n
- Reliability Engineer is expected to create and present the business case to support projects and spending recommendations. n
- Reliability Engineer is accountable for meeting reliability project repair/construction deadlines. n
Autonomy and Supervisory/Lead Responsibility
n- n
- Reliability engineer is an individual contributor role with (dashed line) organizational connections to Reliability Technician (Reed Revell), Maintenance Supervisors, Production Supervisors n
- Reliability Engineer Spending is Authorized according to EO6 protocol Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, and CEO depending on spending amount. n
- Reliability Engineer is authorized to initiate change in Chempax master data, PM’s, Stock room levels according to set organization SOP’s protocols and practices n
Requirements:n
Education and/or Experience
n- n
- BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering n
- SMRP certification is desired n
- Minimum 5 years experience in chemical industry is required, preferably in specialty chemicals. n
- Minimum of 3 years Mechanical Integrity & Reliability Engineering experience is necessary. n
- Experience with cGMP in an FDA regulated facility is a plus. n
- Experience in the following are desired: 1) Various materials used in acidic corrosive piping & equipment, 2) protective metal coatings, 3) HF and related process chemicals • n
- EIT or PE are n
Safety/Essential Functions
n- n
- Must be capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. n
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs. n
- Must be able to work in an environment where chemical odors may exist at permissible threshold limits of exposure. n
- Must be able to evacuate the plant, reporting to appropriate assigned muster point, in the event of an emergency or drill. n
- Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals on a regular basis. n
- Must be able to use all available or assigned personal protective equipment and tools. n
