Description Join Leidos as a Lead Network Discovery Specialist, where you will play a pivotal role in our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, contributing to a critical digital modernization initiative for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies (DAFAs). As a Lead Network Discovery Specialist, you will guide a dynamic team of network engineers and analysts engaged in comprehensive virtual and physical discovery tasks for DAFA networks. Your expertise will be essential in formulating a detailed network migration strategy tailored for each DAFA's transition to the DoDNet environment. Note: This position requires commuting to Ft. Meade, MD, 2 days per week, and holding an active DOD Secret clearance. Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage teams of engineers and analysts performing both physical and virtual network discovery and analyze gathered data to formulate precise migration plans to DoDNet.

Provide mentorship to network engineers while working closely with the Network Engineering Lead and Project Managers to foster team cohesion and professional development.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of network discovery, analysis, and planning workflows.

Design and plan secure networking solutions that consolidate or transition connectivity services under an enterprise service framework.

Collaborate with stakeholders and technical experts in legacy environment discovery, evaluating current capabilities and configurations to craft architecture utilizing standard design patterns.

Create secure wide area connectivity designs encompassing underlay, overlay, and COI transport options that meet performance, quality of service, and security requirements.

Provide secure access solutions utilizing wired and wireless technologies, adhering to standards and developing relevant implementation and transition plans.

Integrate capacity planning and scalability considerations into network and security stack solutions as part of overall design efforts.

Investigate and implement network optimization strategies to meet performance and capacity benchmarks.

Identify legacy service paths and devise strategies for future enterprise service capabilities balancing security, sustainability, and maintainability needs.

Support the development of IP addressing strategies across IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

Collaborate with information assurance teams ensuring adherence to DoD standards and assist in preparing accreditation documentation.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field with 8+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience. Relevant training may substitute for a degree.

Possession of a network certification that meets or exceeds CCNA (equivalent vendor certifications may be accepted upon review).

Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams, emphasizing training, communication, and collaboration.

Expertise in documenting logical and physical designs using tools like Visio or PowerPoint to illustrate IT system components and interactions.

Experience conducting site surveys and interpreting survey data effectively.

Proficiency in creating or executing comprehensive migration plans for services, applications, or data movements.

Track record of upgrading and lifecycle replacement of network devices.

Solid understanding of LAN/WAN technologies including TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPNs, Routing (L2/L3), and Firewall management.

Familiarity with at least two of the following technologies: Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Infoblox, Brocade, Fortinet.

Proven ability to design and implement network infrastructure while generating accompanying technical documentation.

Capacity to collaborate within a team to diagnose and resolve complex networking challenges.

Strong written and verbal communication skills needed for presentational contexts.

Experience in presenting technical designs and migration plans for approvals from leadership.

Holding a current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification, such as Security+ or CISSP.

Must maintain an active DOD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or an equivalent certification.
