American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a mixed critical care unit, requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications.
Job Details
• Work in a 39-bed mixed ICU setting including MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU,
• Patient population includes surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma critical care,
• Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multi-system trauma,
• RN-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2, with 1:3 on rare occasions based on acuity,
• 48-hour work weeks with 12-hour night shifts,
• Epic used for charting; experience required,
• Use of specialized equipment such as Alaris, Omnicell, ventilators, and preferred experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT,
• Floating is uncommon but may occur to any adult floor, including MedSurg/Tele,
• Orientation includes hospital orientation and up to 20 hours on the ICU unit,
• Every other weekend required; no on-call responsibility,
Job Requirements
• Active South Dakota or compact RN license,
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications are required,
• Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience, excluding travel assignments, is strongly preferred,
• Candidates with 1.5 years ICU experience and significant other RN experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis,
• Experience administering IV medications, managing hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry required,
• Must be comfortable working 48-hour weeks,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Must have completed a board-approved nursing education program,
• Prior travel assignment required (first-time travelers not accepted),
• Must live at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility,
• Previous permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler,
Additional Information
• Care for complex ICU patients including cardiac, neuro, trauma, and post-surgical cases,
• Responsibilities include use and management of advanced life support equipment and vasoactive drugs,
• Collaborative team including charge nurses, CNAs, mobility aides, intensivists, APPs, resource nurses, phlebotomy, and 24/7 RT support,
• ICU RNs may be expected to float to Emergency Department if qualified,
• Required to wear navy scrubs,
• No holiday time off (RTO) allowed, and no RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally in August,
• Free parking available onsite,
• Travelers must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with predominantly critical patients
