Job Summary: The Software Engineering Manager manages aerospace engineering activities, implements and maintains engineering objectives and initiatives. This role is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of software systems used in the Aerospace industry. The Software Engineering Manager combines technical expertise in software engineering with leadership and project management skills to ensure that software projects meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and project timelines. This role will perform a variety of tasks, and lead and direct the work of others; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Essential Functions: Provide leadership and management for Aerospace product development and sustaining programs and activities in an aerospace industry. Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of design activities, ensure compliance with Aerospace industry standards, including DO-178C, DO-330, DO-331 for software systems and model-based development. Plan, allocate and manage the deployment of resources for multiple aerospace projects. Establish and monitor department budgets. Encourage and provide opportunity for continued relevant technical training. Establish and maintain design guidelines and design processes, continuously review and optimize workflows. Provide interface and direct/indirect support to outside suppliers, 3rd party development activities, and customer product integration. Develop, enhance and maintain a core Software engineering team locally and offshore, as well as an external network of consultants, contractors and suppliers to support product development. Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor or management. Minimum Qualifications: Experience: 7+ years' related experience. 2 years' supervisory experience in an aerospace industry; Demonstrated experience with relevant aerospace standards and practices; Demonstrated strong customer orientation. Deep understanding of embedded systems: Proficiency in programming languages like C and C++. Knowledge of communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN). Experience with Aerospace standards and audits: Expertise in planning, test/validation, analyzing and managing software requirements and configuration in accordance with RTCA DO-178, DO-330, DO-331, DO-297. Experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA): including system architecture design, software integration, communication protocols, safety and certification, performance optimization, testing and validation, troubleshooting and debugging. Planning: Ability to develop and execute detailed project plans. Education/Certification: BS in CS, EE, Aerospace or related field. Knowledge: Familiar with a variety of the field's (aerospace) concepts, practices, and procedures. Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to leverage critical thinking and sound judgment to plan and achieve goals, drawing on extensive experience and a deep understanding of complex systems, project dynamics, and business needs; demonstrated advanced skills in all of the following responsibilities: employee development, team building, business acumen, continuous improvement, systems and tools, project management and communication (written and verbal). As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Top Benefits: Salary range: $145,100.00 to $202,200.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
