Job DescriptionThe CT Tech 2 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations. Produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Ensures patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols, and screens patients for safe administration of contrast media. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Able to evaluate competency level of others as preceptor. Reports to Supervisor or Manager.ResponsibilitiesClinical skillsExhibits working knowledge of all CT equipment and procedures.Refers to physician's orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.Coordinates CT schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.Patient/General SafetyCorrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.Adheres to infection control practices.Radiation safetyAsk females of childbearing age if they may be pregnant.Uses proper Radiation shielding for pediatric patients and patients in childbearing age.Routinely wears film badge to monitor Radiation exposure.Complete Annual Madate Radiation SafetyWears proper Radiation protection equipment while doing procedures.Equipment MaintenanceRoutinely performs proper tube warm-up for all x-ray equipment.Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service call through call center.Documentation/CommunicationComplete Exam Data Entry fields on all examsDocuments all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials,other duties as assigned.Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the CT DepartmentAssist in other areas of the department as workload permits.Keeps areas well stocked at all times.Qualifications2 YearsGraduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist ProgramCurrent State License, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) or Registry Eligible, Computed Tomography, CT, Basic Life Support, BLS - HCPAbout UsThe Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System is a leading health care innovator in Louisiana and Mississippi.
