Job Duties

The Chesapeake Health Department is seeking a Nursing Supervisor to provide leadership to the Maternal & Child Health Case Management / Field Team. This positions provides primary leadership and supervision over a team of health care professionals (nurses and support staff) , duties include but are not limited to: oversee team staff development; work schedules and leave approval; perform direct care services, coverage for work assignments to ensure continuity of care; complete performance reviews; counsel staff regarding performance problems; complete recruitment documents and arrange interviews & select new employees; write reports and other required documents; oversee quality assurance through audit of records, team performance, productivity monitoring and customer satisfaction measurement; monitor performance and outcome data for work area; collect data, and complete Title V quarterly and annual grant reports. May schedule student rotations as requested. Will oversee all daily operations, staffing, implementation of policies & procedures. Work collaboratively with other departments in the district to coordinate and deliver safe, efficient, and effective patient care services. This position will represent the health department by participating in local committees and work groups to meet the needs of the citizens of Chesapeake. May assume additional leadership duties in times of local, state, or national emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

•Current RN license in the State of Virginia. Knowledge and demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff in the areas of public health nursing and population health. • Knowledge of grants, case management, ambulatory clinic services, and agencies/programs that support the underserved and underinsured populations. • Knowledge of public and community health principles, and of nursing and health care programs • Knowledge of nursing theories related to improving the health of the community • Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite
