Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager (ITM) The Information Technology Specialist (I TS) II leads a team of highly skilled software developers and business analysts in support of the Prescription Drugs Monitoring Program Systems Branch , Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES).

The ITS II demonstrates a depth of leadership and expertise in Software Engineering, System's Engineering, and Business Technology Management. The ITS II performs a wide variety of tasks requiring innovative problem-solving where guidance is not readily available. The ITS II optimizes and applies architecture solutions for the benefit of the overall organization and plays a major role in advising management or formulating information technology strategy and policy within the organization.

The position requires in-depth expertise in system design, application development, and Service Oriented Architectures. The ITS II is responsible for custom code repositories for the CURES application and processes data submitted in the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy and National Council for Prescription Drug Programs standards (or other agreed upon formats) to achieve optimal performance and security.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
