Seeking customer service and hospitality minded candidates for the position of Overlook Bartender. The position is responsible for the legal selling and serving of alcoholic beverages and pull-tabs at Overlook Lounge, Café, and Catering events and will prepare and sell café items, prepare and serve catering items, handling money and make change, and keep the area clean and tidy. 2025 Salary range is $11.13/hr. plus tips. Position Summary

The Overlook Bartender prepares and sells café items, prepares and serves catering items, handles money and makes change, and keeps the area clean and tidy. Responsible for the legal selling and serving of alcoholic beverages and pull-tabs at Overlook Lounge, Café, and Catering events.

Essential Functions

Works at Overlook Lounge, Café, and catered events. Assists in the preparation, set up, and clean up of food and food service area. Serves food to event attendees and restocks supplies as needed. Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and restocks supplies as needed. Sets up and breaks down bar and food service areas as needed.

2. Responsible for legal liquor sales and service.

Ensures all patrons are of legal drinking age. Prepares beverage booth for liquor sales. Maintains cleanliness, organization, and security of work area. Monitors guest behavior and alcohol consumption to promote responsible drinking.

3. Provides customer service and maintenance and security of workspace and equipment.

Prepares and serves food to customers in a polite and professional manner. Performs routine cleaning of equipment. Notifies Overlook Chef of any repairs and/or maintenance requiring attention from a service contractor. Monitors and maintains security of the workspace while on duty. Collaborates with supervisor, coworkers, and guests to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction. Assists other facility users with directions and questions. Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and public.

4. Performs financial activities.

Operates the point-of-sale (POS) system rings up sales, receipts payments, gives change, etc. Maintains change/refund fund in accordance with jurisdiction.

5. May be assigned as the lead worker in the absence of the Overlook Chef.

Oversees staff to ensure they are preparing items in a proper manner. Ensures food is prepared and ready for sale with limited wait time while also limiting excess food items at the end of the day.

6. Performs other essential job duties.

Regular and timely work attendance. Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training. Follows all policies, procedures and practices related to alcohol service, food handling/sanitation guidelines, and general safety.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledgeable and committed to safe and legal alcohol and food service practices. Skill to communicate effectively with a variety of groups. Ability to deny service when necessary. Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to work independently and assume responsibilities with minimal direct supervision. Ability to operate a cash register, accurately count and record cash received. Ability to present a positive and professional image of the City to the public. Ability to follow all City policies. Minimum Qualifications

Experience handling money. Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Preferred Qualifications

21 years of age or older. Prior bartending and/or food service experience. Experience working in a municipal, public, or community-oriented setting. Familiarity with Minnesota alcohol and food safety laws.

Physical Requirements

On a continuous basis, must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time. On a frequent basis, must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel and to perform custodial duties. On an occasional frequent basis must be able to lift 20 pounds from floor to waist and have the ability to carry it over 25 feet. On an occasional basis must be able to lift 10 pounds over head. On occasional basis, must be able to climb a step ladder.
