Job Description Summary

The Multimedia & Graphic Designer's primary purpose is to conceptualize, design, and produce a variety of high-quality multimedia materials, utilizing strong graphic design, photography, copywriting, and video production skills for print and digital distribution, adhering to established SSU Brand Guidelines. Materials may include printed promotional materials, social media posts, social app content, email newsletters, email marketing, digital advertising, apparel, trade show displays, and video and graphics content for the University website. The Multimedia & Graphic Designer also provides support for event coverage, including taking photos or video at events, interviewing attendees for social media posts, and supporting "live coverage" through social platforms. This position works closely with the Marketing Communications Coordinator to develop compelling and engaging content for both internal and external audiences that is designed to inform, sell, inspire, and drive action - depending on the goal. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS :

Create multimedia content - graphics, video, photos, animation - from concept to final design to be used for university promotion on the web, print, social media, email marketing, display advertising, apparel, specialty advertising, or any chosen media. Provide photography and/or videography to be used as multimedia content on the web, in promotional products, email marketing, and social media. Produce videos from concept to finish, demonstrating strong video editing skills. Manage project deadlines, in coordination with the Director of Communications, working efficiently to ensure all projects are completed on schedule with high quality. Work with and understand existing brand standards and guidelines to maintain consistency across all marketing elements while also creating new project directions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create multimedia content - graphics, video, photos, animation - from concept to final design to be used for university promotion on the web, print, social media, email marketing, display advertising, apparel, specialty advertising, or any chosen media.

Work with the Communications team to identify and prioritize multimedia content needs. Create appropriate and branded graphics and layouts for assigned media, utilizing the latest design, video production, and photo-editing software. Track projects from start to completion.

Provide photography and/or videography to be used as multimedia content on the web, in promotional products, email marketing, and social media.

Take photos as assigned for use in any media, using iPhone, DSLR, or other camera. Shoot video as assigned, using iPhone, GoPro, DSLR, or other appropriate devices. Edit and manipulate images and videos to meet project specifications using computer software or appropriate apps.

Produce videos from concept to finish, demonstrating strong video editing skills.

Develops and manages project concept, goals, timelines, and resources. Oversees the filming process, ensuring quality and branding standards are met. Edits footage, adding graphic elements, transitions, and audio, ensuring quality, branding standards and project goals are met.

Manage project deadlines, in coordination with the Director of Communications, working efficiently to ensure all projects are completed on schedule with high quality.

Maintain a project schedule to ensure deliverables are completed on time. Work with the Director of Communications to prioritize projects, set deadlines, and refine scope, if necessary, to ensure all projects are completed on time. Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks to project success.

Work with and understand existing brand standards and guidelines to maintain consistency across all marketing elements while also creating new project directions.

Consistently review and evaluate brand guidelines. Collaborate with team members and Director to understand and translate brand requirements. Stay updated on design trends and incorporate them into brand materials to keep the brand fresh.

Minimum Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Solid background in digital communication techniques and practices; Expertise in graphic design, video production, and photography; Strong customer service orientation

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Arts; Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Marketing, Photography, Video Production, or related field Six (6) months experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in public relations field and marketing Experience with marketing technology
