College Access Advisor
The College Access Advisor, under the direction of the Director of Outreach, supports and assists high school students with transition to postsecondary education, military service or the workforce. Works closely with the assigned independent school district staff to provide college and career advising that includes education on required testing, application process, scholarship searches and career exploration. Establishes working relationships with ISD principals, counselors, and teachers, assesses the needs of each school, and adapts programs and activities. The college access advisor will support the development of a college-going culture to include event coordination, individual and group student meetings, support K-8 outreach, and overall support the ISD and Texas A&M University
San Antonio's enrollment management division. This position will work a minimum of 40 hours per week and is an in-person/on-multiple campus' position. Some work hours will extend into the evenings and weekends. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and peak times. Some travel is required. Responsibilities: Provides college admissions and financial-aid advice to students or families seeking assistance. Encourages students to consider a broad range of college and career choices. Assists students develop a comprehensive college timeline, including understanding application deadlines for the admissions process, helps students complete and submit scholarship applications, financial aid applications, test scores, transcripts, and other enrollment documents. Assists students in interpreting correspondence from colleges, including offers of admission and financial aid letters. Organizes group events that encourage students and their families for postsecondary education or the workforce. Visits and presents in classrooms, assemblies, and other meetings to offer advisement services and emphasize the importance of postsecondary education. Coordinates events and workshop presentations to include marketing development, working with additional partners or community-based vendors. Supports k-8 outreach events and programs to encourage the college-going culture. Assists in the assessment data collection and long-term sustainability of the program working with ISD staff, other advisers within the service area and Texas A&M University
San Antonio's enrollment management division. Assists the supervisor and staff to identify, collect, and interpret key data progress and outcome variables to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. Creates monthly data reports and EOY presentations that detail the academic year goals, objectives, and key results. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher in related field. No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. Knowledge of Canva or creating marketing materials. Ability to learn technology software programs, Banner, Idealogic, etc. Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Skilled in presentation facilitation and public speaking. Ability to work with K-8 youth, high school and family populations.
