As a Senior Associate in our Trusts and Estates Tax Services practice, you will be a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals, families, and fiduciaries. You will provide comprehensive tax and estate services, including tax preparation, estate and gift tax compliance, wealth transfer planning, and fiduciary accounting. Under the guidance of our Managers and Directors, you will deliver exceptional client service, innovative tax strategies, and contribute to the continued growth of our practice. Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance: Prepare and review complex individual (1040), fiduciary (1041), estate (706), and gift (709) tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Estate & Gift Tax Planning: Assist in the design and implementation of estate planning strategies, including trusts, charitable entities, and wealth transfer techniques. Fiduciary Accounting: Review trust and estate accountings, allocations, and distributions in accordance with governing documents and applicable laws. Tax Research and Planning: Conduct in-depth research on estate, gift, and trust tax matters, including generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax, and provide recommendations to clients. Entity Structuring: Assist with entity selection and structuring for family wealth management, including family limited partnerships and charitable foundations. Cross-Border Taxation: Support international estate planning matters, including reporting of foreign trusts, FBAR compliance, and expatriation tax issues. Audit Support: Represent clients in IRS and state examinations, preparing supporting documentation and communicating with tax authorities. Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, trustees, family offices, and legal advisors, serving as a proactive and trusted resource. Team Leadership: Mentor and train junior staff, review their work for accuracy, and provide constructive feedback to support their professional development. Project Management: Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Business Development: Collaborate with leadership to identify new client opportunities, assist in proposals, and contribute to practice growth. Continuing Education: Stay current on evolving tax laws, estate planning trends, and wealth transfer strategies through regular training and professional development. Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 35 years of experience in public accounting, with significant exposure to trust, estate, and gift tax compliance and planning. Specialized Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of fiduciary income taxation, estate and gift tax regulations, and wealth transfer planning strategies. Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting required. CPA license strongly preferred. Advanced credentials such as MST (Master's in Taxation), JD, or LLM in Taxation highly desirable. Technical Proficiency: Expertise in fiduciary accounting systems and tax preparation software (e.g., GoSystem, CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx). Proficiency with Excel and financial modeling tools. Research Skills: Ability to analyze complex tax issues and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven success in client-facing roles. Supervisory Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead engagements and supervise staff effectively.
