Material Handler I
The Material Handler I supports operations by storing and shipping materials at temperatures ranging from ambient (room temperature) to -196 degrees C with potentially hazardous properties. A Day in the Life: Receive incoming raw materials Facilitate movement of materials, including hazardous materials, across the site Maintain accurate inventory through receipts, adjustments, and cycle count *Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check to include drug screening. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Required: No previous work experience required Preferred: Experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field Preferred: Experience with warehouse equipment Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Able to work independently and set priorities Effective interpersonal and communication skills Able to work as part of a team Able to work with methods to handle, process and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system Physical Requirements / Work Environment: Able to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents, and marked changes in temperature Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day What We Offer: Compensation: Competitive Hourly Pay Rate at 19.50/hr + 2nd Shift Differential of 10% Optional on-call, after hours compensation Annual performance-based bonus Annual merit performance-based increase Excellent Benefits: Benefits & Total Rewards | Thermo Fisher Scientific Medical, Dental, & Vision benefits-effective Day 1 Paid Time Off & Designated Paid Holidays Retirement Savings Plan Tuition Reimbursement Employee Referral Bonus Career Advancement Opportunities The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $13.82$20.74. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
