The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), named Best Rehabilitation Hospital in Indiana in 2022 and 2023, provides quality rehabilitation services to those facing life-changing injuries or illness. We specialize in the areas of brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and complex medical conditions. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in the state of Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.S. Our campus on the west side of Indianapolis specializes in inpatient and outpatient evidence-based, patient-centered therapy for ages 15 and older. SUMMARY

The position of

Speech/Language Pathologist

provides a diagnosis of

cognitive/communicative

and swallowing disorders and administers speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, and aural rehabilitation therapy services to physical medicine rehabilitation patients or long-term acute care patients served from age 15 and older, either individually or in groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Administers S.T. evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age-specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation populations or long-term acute care populations served. Provides comprehensive and accurate assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment per policy for inpatients or outpatients. Responsible for assuring the treatment plan is revised/updated appropriately and communicated to appropriate team members including attendance at team conferences. Accurately documents patient treatment in a timely manner to ensure an accurate and complete medical record. Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to assistants, techs, and yearly students according to state/governing regulations and hospital guidelines. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CFY required. Master's Degree in Speech or Language Pathology from an accredited college or university required. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association required. Speech Pathology license from the State of Indiana required. CPR certification required. One (1) year of clinical experience in rehabilitation is preferred but will consider Clinical Fellowship Year candidates.
