Provide counsel and advice to the organization or division management, and plan and direct the functions of general and cost accounting activities, payroll, and financial planning and analysis activities. Responsibilities Manage financial analysis activities, providing analysis and interpretation of past, present, and indicated future results related to sales, costs, profits, and rate of return. Manage financial planning, budget preparation, and follow-up controls and comparisons for both short-term and long-term plans of the business unit. Design and implement financial information systems; seek ways to improve financial reporting and controls. Support the preparation and filing of tax returns. Manage general and cost accounting activities, perform all general ledger functions, and maintain custody of accounting books, records, and forms. Manage payroll activities. Oversee the preparation of internal accounting and financial reports for management and directors. Ensure the timely preparation and filing of all accounting and financial reports for governmental and regulatory agencies. Develop departmental objectives annually and recommend short-term and long-term plans to improve the effectiveness of assigned functions.
