We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Director of Authentication Engineering to lead the delivery and operational excellence of enterprise authentication platforms. This role will oversee both workforce and customer identity systems, ensuring secure, scalable, and seamless sign-in experiences across on-premises and cloud environments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the accountable leader for authentication engineering, aligning platform capabilities with business, security, and compliance goals. Act as product owner for the authentication backlog, driving delivery against quarterly OKRs and service level objectives (SLOs). Lead the migration from legacy Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID and scale PingOne CIAM for customer authentication. Provide design authority through reference architectures and guardrails for Entra ID (e.g., Conditional Access, MFA, Identity Protection, PIM). Partner with Security IAM to implement authentication policies aligned with Zero Trust principles and regulatory frameworks (CJIS, PCI, HIPAA). Lead execution of the AD to Entra ID migration program, including scope definition, risk management, and change control. Oversee roadmap execution, ensuring timely delivery of features and operational improvements. Set and manage service SLOs, MTTR targets, and availability goals; lead post-incident reviews and drive continuous improvement. Maintain compliance posture across authentication services; coordinate audits and remediation efforts. Collaborate cross-functionally with Infrastructure, Security IAM, Application, and Customer Experience teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery. Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team; define on-call rotations, escalation paths, and succession planning. Manage vendor relationships and SLA performance; provide budget input and forecasts to the Senior Director.

REQUIREMENTS: 10+ years in authentication/identity services, including 3+ years leading engineering teams. Proven leadership in hybrid identity environments (Active Directory + Microsoft Entra ID) and large-scale migrations. Experience with PingOne CIAM and standards-based federation (OIDC/SAML). Strong understanding of CJIS, PCI, HIPAA, and Zero Trust principles. Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders, vendors, and delivery governance. Proficiency in PowerShell and Microsoft Graph; familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code. About Theoris:
