Our Tax Exempt practice provides clients with tax guidance and planning related to protecting tax-exempt status, preparing and reviewing tax returns for exempt organizations and their taxable affiliates (990s / 1120s / 1065s), including international filings as needed, IRS audit defense strategies, and other relevant tax matters. Our team works on key client issues in domestic federal taxation, focusing on implementing tax strategies aligned with clients' business objectives.

As a Senior Associate at RSM, your responsibilities will focus on two core concepts: technical & quality expertise, and delivering excellent client service:

Preparing complex tax returns – approximately 25-40% of your time

Developing, motivating, and training staff level and intern team members – approximately 10% of your time

Performing detailed review and analysis of tax returns – approximately 10-15%

Interacting directly with clients to handle questions, planning, and concerns

Researching and summarizing tax issues – approximately 10% of your time

Remaining up-to-date on current tax practices and law changes

Performing other duties as assigned

Travel may be required

Basic Qualifications:

BA / BS Degree, preferably in Accounting or related field

Eligibility to sit for the CPA exam or holding a licensed JD

Minimum of 2 years of experience in public accounting

Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions and gather necessary information

Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters of Accounting

CPA, JD, LLM, or EA

Experience with a large regional or national accounting firm

Knowledge of tax code and compliance

Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation; review experience is a plus

Experience with international tax matters is a plus

Compensation Range: $66,100 - $124,900

Discretionary bonuses are available based on individual and firm performance.
