VP, Growth Engineering

We serve the 105 billion dollar US local restaurant industry. Headquartered in NYC and Tel-Aviv, Sauce aims to empower local establishments to connect directly with their customers. Our team combines decades of restaurant tech experience with seasoned professionals in tech, sales, marketing, product, and operations, creating an industry-changing delivery system for successful local restaurants and chains.

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on VP of R&D to lead our engineering monetization efforts for critical customer-facing, revenue-generating services. This role will be key in driving the technical strategy, execution, and growth of our B2C products, focusing on enhancing user experience, conversion, and monetization. The leader will collaborate closely with product, design, and business teams to deliver innovative solutions that impact our bottom line, with potential future expansion into B2B services.
This position offers a hybrid work environment for those based near our NYC offices.
What You'll Do :
Strategic product development :
Lead end-to-end development of B2C services, including storefront transactions, integrations, and upsell capabilities, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and high-performing. Monetization & growth :
Drive initiatives to enhance user engagement and explore new monetization opportunities. AI-First adoption :
Promote the integration of AI-driven approaches within B2C products and operations for personalization, analytics, and automation to increase revenue. Rapid experimentation & prototyping :
Lead building functional prototypes and internal tools quickly using low-code/no-code platforms and traditional development for feature validation and monetization experiments. Full lifecycle ownership :
Oversee engineering activities from concept through deployment, including design, monitoring, debugging, and continuous improvement. Strategic alignment :
Collaborate with Product, R&D leadership, and stakeholders like Growth, Customer Support, and Marketing to shape the product and engineering roadmap. Data-driven decision making :
Establish a framework for data collection and analysis, measuring feature impact, user behavior, and leveraging insights for development validation. Mentor and influence :
Inspire teams to adopt innovative thinking and foster a culture of continuous improvement. What You Bring :
12+ years in software engineering 5+ years in leadership roles driving innovation (e.g., Chief Architect, Head of Innovation, VP R&D, CTO) Experience leading large, diverse engineering teams of 10+ people, focusing on high-impact B2C features Strong technical expertise in modern frontend technologies (e.g., React, Next.js) Architectural and hands-on experience designing, building, and operating scalable, reliable distributed systems, especially high-traffic B2C platforms Experience with B2C platforms, e-commerce solutions, or marketplace payment systems Proven ability to champion 'AI-first' strategies Understanding of data analytics, A/B testing, and leveraging data insights for product optimization Exceptional communication skills for articulating technical and strategic concepts Strong problem-solving skills and pragmatic approach Experience with remote or distributed teams in a matrix environment Optional Requirements :
Experience in Restaurant Tech, especially digital/delivery space Full stack development with React .NET and microservices architecture Data modeling and database interaction experience Background in e-commerce, B2C platforms, or marketplace payments DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development (Azure preferred) What We Offer :
