Be our next Senior Structural Engineer
Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation team based in our New Orleans, Louisiana office in a hybrid capacity having the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on highway, railway and transit structures including bridge, culverts and retaining walls.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Lead the structural design for all project types, including complex bridge designs
Lead the planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures
Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate
Prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations
Perform Construction and Life Cycle Cost estimates and prepare load rating calculations
Oversee project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and Requests for Information
Supervise and direct staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines as well as scope and budget requirements
Assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables
What your experience looks like
BS in Structural Engineering.
Licensed PE in Louisiana.
Experience with LADOTD Required
Prior experience with complex bridge projects a plus
Experience with proposals and business development activities.
Proficient in MicroStation
Knowledge AASHTO and bridge analysis, design and detailing preferred
10+ years progressively responsible relevant experience in a Structural Engineer role
Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians
Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and engineering software and ability to prepare electronic design calculation documents
Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively within multi-discipline project teams that may be remote
Ability to plan ones’ own time and manage the time of others, as needed, demonstrates good time management skills
Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment
Ability to work on several projects concurrently
Strong sense of urgency and self- initiative to meet client deadlines
Knowledge of structural analysis software including SAP-CSI, AASHTOWareBrR, LARSA 4D or similar preferred
Ability to mentor Structural engineers
Strong leadership, project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment
