You will be responsible forcovering the world of Washington, D.C.,lobbying, how businessesseekto shape federal policy andthe wayspolicymakersshape business in the U.S.
About the role:The business andlobbyingreporterwill be responsible fora mix of spot news stories, regular briefs and features for a national audience.Asuccessful candidate willnot only know the ins and outs oflobbyingandpolicymaking, but will alsobe able to break downpolicybattles for readersbeyond the beltway.Thereporterwill play a key role in putting together our annual top lobbyists list. Youwill also workcloselywith colleaguesonThe Hill’s policy, congressional, White House and campaign teams in a highly collaborative newsroom.
Responsibilitiesinclude:
Contributing to The Hill’s coverage of business trends, economic indicators, labor unions, federal regulations, and congressional hearings focused on business and the economy. Leading The Hill’s coverage oflobbyingandinfluence, including two weeklylobbyingbriefs.Co-writing The Hill’s nightly “Business and Economy” newsletter.
Skills and qualifications:
A degree in journalism or a related field is required, and previous reporting experience in a metro or national media environment is preferred. Candidates should have good instincts for understanding what readers want and be able to produce error-free, clean journalism on a tight timetable. Basic familiarity with Google Trends, SEO skills and real-time analytics are a plus.

Part time employees are eligible for 401(k) and any local/state leave plans.
