Role Description This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed for human spaceflight and capable of carrying payloads to various orbits. You will own engineering support for high-rate builds of the composite payload fairing and fixed adapter, including redesign, rapid resolution of manufacturing non-conformances, and design improvements for cost, rate, and quality.
Responsibilities include:
Design, analysis, development, and testing/qualification of composite and metallic structures.
Create and modify 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
Support manufacturing and production issues for Payload Hardware in production at Blue Origin and suppliers.
Identify opportunities for cost and rate improvements through design updates.
Implement corrective actions to reduce non-conformances.
Support disposition of non-conformances by working with stress, M&P, ME, and hardware engineers.
Collaborate with teams responsible for material selection, manufacturing processes, and suppliers.
Participate in the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling.
Coach and mentor other engineers.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in engineering with 5+ years of experience in aerospace structures.
Experience with aerospace design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing.
Experience supporting fabrication and assembly of aerospace structures, especially composites.
Proficiency in CATIA V5, Creo (Pro/E), Windchill.
Knowledge of systems engineering, fabrication, and quality control.
Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), ASME Y14.100, Y14.41.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with composite repair design, nonconforming hardware disposition, finite element analysis, and industry analysis codes.
Experience with automated fiber placement, tape laying, and large-scale composite fabrication.
Knowledge of optimization and DOE methods.
Compensation Range $117,498.00 - $164,497.20 (WA applicants)
