CNC Machinist- Lathe 2nd Shift
Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist- Lathe 2nd Shift at our Auburn, CA/Vian Enterprises location. Hours are Monday-Friday 4:00pm-1:30am. We are open to paying a sign-on bonus up to 5k to relocate someone outside of the Bay area. New hires are also eligible for a $1000 sign-on bonus.

Job Summary
The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Essential Functions
- Understand work orders, blueprints, manufacturing orders, and machining parameters
- Validate material used
- Maintain specifications; Troubleshoot, detect malfunctions and take appropriate actions; Know when to replace worn tools
- Listen to machining operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and compensate for problems
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, fixtures and knowledge of GDT standards
- Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions taken thus far as well as any necessary further steps
- Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Non-Essential Functions
- Maintain conscientious work behaviors including work ethic, safety standards, quality, costs, and On-Time Delivery (OTD)
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ year of experience machining with CNC Lathes.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of various inspection equipment i.e. micrometers, calipers, and height gages; Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations; Knowledge of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing; Understanding of cutting tool Geometry; Knowledge of tooling and coordination
- Skills/Abilities: Able to work quickly and efficiently through Process Improvement structure; Good verbal and written communication; Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC-Mills
- Understanding of CNC G Code
- Understanding of basic Math, Geometry and Trigonometry
- Excellent teamwork skills
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
- Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
- May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
- Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary

Salary range: $26.32 to $41.41 (+10% for shift differential). Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
