We are looking for a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to become a key member of our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a critical part in leading the design and execution of high-voltage utility substation projects, collaborating with various electric utility disciplines to ensure successful outcomes.

*Candidates may work remotely but are required to be able to relocate to or live within the United States.

* Attendance at staff meetings and site visits in the Atlanta, GA metro area is required.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for medium to large-scale utility substations, including creating layouts, electrical arrangements, and comprehensive system drawings.
  • Perform advanced engineering analyses and calculations.
  • Oversee Quality Control reviews on substation physical design projects.
  • Create and audit bill of materials for substation physical projects.
  • Develop and review proposals and scopes of work tailored for substation projects.
  • Deliver advanced technical presentations to support the technical growth of the team.
  • Engage with clients, including site visits, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, effectively collaborating with internal teams and clients to achieve project objectives.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related field, along with over eight (8) years of experience in Substation physical design.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing substation projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in leading bids and proposals for utility clients.
  • Capacity to conduct quality control checks on substation design projects.
  • Ability to supervise a team of one to six direct reports.
  • Proficient in reading and designing substation physical and protection/control drawings.
  • Experience in creating and validating bills of materials for substation physical projects.
  • Expertise in developing application documents detailing design methodologies for high-voltage projects.
  • Competency in grounding studies and lightning protection studies.
  • Willingness to travel for client site visits.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes.
  • Knowledge of protection and control design.
  • Experience with BUS calculations.
  • Proficiency in WinIGS or CDEGS.
  • Experience with SDS AutoCAD Electrical software.
