Description
Position Information: The Auto Body Refinishing Technician is responsible for preparing vehicles for specified work to be performed. The Refinishing Technician will work directly with the assistance of the Body Shop Painter.

o Ensure Quality Assurance (QA) of repair work before and after painting to ensure no imperfections before rebuild
o Prepare items for paint process including sanding/priming/covering according to specific needs
o Learn and apply fundamentals of paint refinishing
o Assist painter with mixing and painting duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Greet every customer, every day
• Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with customers, co-workers and vendors
• Put safety first. Adhere to all Safety Policies, Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment standards
• Wash vehicles to remove dirt, oil, grease and debris from painted surfaces as needed
• Prepare vehicle for repair by priming and sanding vehicles parts, and or, panels for the Painter to paint
• Locate and remove imperfections on panels prior to painting
• Apply tape to protect unpainted surfaces, such as bumpers, windows, chrome trim, and other parts
• Smooth and sand unmasked surfaces removing gloss from previous paint
• Assist in the mixing of paint according to manufacturer specifications as assigned
• Tint color for proper match, with the supervision of the Painter, produce test panels when needed to obtain industry acceptable color match
• Remove masking tape and clean vehicle after vehicle is painted
• Inspect painted vehicle for quality workmanship, noting any unprimed areas, runs, sags and unprepared sections
• Prepare vehicle for customer delivery
• Other duties to be determined by management
• Assist paint department where needed by Painting panels, vehicles, or other duties defined by body shop manager
• Assist paint department by disbursing completed panels/work to appropriate next step
• Perform teardown of vehicles as assigned
• Assist in other body repair work as assigned
• Maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator and hearing protection, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
• Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
• Maintain a safe and clean workspace, as well as ensuring the entire facility is orderly, clean and free of hazards
Qualifications: Valid driver's license in state of residence and good driving record. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Working knowledge of automotive and detailing. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Two years of experience as an apprentice or Auto Body Prepper preferred.
Working Conditions: This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Appropriate PPE may be required.
