Part-Time Full Charge Bookkeeper

Our client, in the non-profit industry, is in need for a Part-Time Full Charge Bookkeeper on a contract-to-hire basis! This is in the eastside of Tucson, and have great hours to begin with, working Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm with a half hour lunch! This is a great opportunity with flexible hours, and once the work is caught up, the candidate can work hybrid a couple times a week, after they've been working for 2-3 months. This role involves managing financial operations for a church and its affiliated preschool, ensuring accuracy in financial records, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit or church accounting, proficiency in QuickBooks Online, and the ability to communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders. Client is open to any religion, any background.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records for income, expenses, payroll, and fund transfers across the church and preschool.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports, including budget-to-actual comparisons, for staff and the board.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and oversee both restricted and designated funds, including memorials and endowment accounts.
  • Process payroll through Paychex and ensure timely and accurate tax reporting in coordination with external providers.
  • Manage records for grants, donations, tithes, and rental income, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Handle invoices, reimbursements, and vendor relationships to maintain smooth financial operations.
  • Coordinate with denominational financial institutions on loans, investments, and savings accounts.
  • Oversee rental agreements and collect payments from external users of the church's facilities.
  • Support the preparation of financial documents for annual audits or reviews.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit or church bookkeeping, with a strong understanding of fund accounting.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required.
  • Familiarity with managing complex financial records, including restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle multiple financial streams.
  • Ability to clearly explain financial information to individuals without accounting expertise.
  • Discretion and professionalism in managing sensitive financial data.
  • Familiarity with church operations and values is preferred but not required.
