WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

1. Design Engineering:

New Product Development responsibilities for Calmark and Birtcher product line

Lead NPD Engineers through cross-functional development projects

Ensure 3D processes are followed and identify opportunities for improvements

Actively participate in the product roadmap definition with Product Management, Sales, and customers

Execute New Product Development actions per product roadmap

Identify technology gaps and launch R&D projects as needed

Sustaining Engineering responsibilities for San Diego site

Manage Engineering release of new configurations (standard and modified) - EAR process

Manage ECO process for changes to BOM's, manufacturing routers, and drawings

Technical leadership for Production and Quality support

Define Engineering processes and manage resources (CAD Vault, ECO tool, etc.)

Global Technical expert for Calmark and Birtcher product line (applications support, Quality, customer projects)

2. Modified Products - Customer Projects and Quotes:

Manage modified product proposal team and customer RFQ's

Creating quotes with technical and commercial content

Checking technical feasibility of projects, developing product specs, and cost estimates

Reviewing Quality Clauses and impact on production

Defining product pricing per Pricing Manager's guidelines

Leading medium to large customer projects from quote to ship (timeline, action list, prototypes)

Leading external and internal cross-functional project meetings

Point of contact for customer related technical questions (external and internal)

Managing customer technical documentation and submitting internal change requests

YOU HAVE:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or other Engineering discipline required; MS or MBA preferred

Ideally 8+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience

5+ years of Engineering leadership experience in manufacturing industry preferred

Demonstrated success in leading a team of engineers, preferably in precision machining or metal fabrication

2+ years of experience working with customers including projects, presentations, and meetings

Experience with new product introduction processes, and formalized tools such as 3D, FMEA, QFD, 6 sigma approaches, etc.

Effective leadership and people management skills. Ability to lead, manage, train and coach others and facilitate the transfer of knowledge

Experience managing complex customer projects and cross functional teams

Knowledge and experience leading technical discussions with customers to secure project wins

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present ideas and information to customers and internal people at all levels of the organization

Ability to translate customer requirements into concepts based on our standard product platforms

Ability to work under general direction and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Our San Diego, CA facility is an ITAR controlled site. All candidates must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15.

Pay Transparency

nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range: $115,500.00 - $214,500.00

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
