Set up and operate heavy-duty power presses to bend, form, stretch, and straighten various products such as plates, extrusions, and structural shapes as specified by blueprints, layouts, and templates. Responsibilities: Plan the sequence of operations by applying knowledge of materials. Assist in setting up and operating multiple automatic and/or multi-slide presses simultaneously for various stamping products. Work from drawings, route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions. Check materials for correct size and type, load coils, and adjust the uncoiler and material rollers. Assist with setup of complicated progressive dies, movable and stationary forming blocks, and adjust stroke and feed as needed. Use micrometers, calipers, scales, and fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications. Move materials in the performance of duties using a lift truck or crane as necessary. Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs. Report faulty equipment, defective material, and unusual conditions to the supervisor. Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs. Climb stairs and ladders. Lift and carry at least 25 pounds. Essential Skills: Experience reading blueprints. Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, go/no-go gauges, and tape measures. Experience with press operation and machine operating. Knowledge in inspection and production processes. Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills. 3 years of manufacturing experience, with some experience operating general manufacturing machinery. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet operational deadlines. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Analytical and problem-solving skills. Work Environment: This is a primarily stamping facility where fasteners for the steel industry are produced. The work environment includes a 2nd shift from 3 pm to 11 pm and a 3rd shift from 11 pm to 7 am, with a $2 shift differential. Employees must be open to working on Saturdays and Sundays, with Sundays being double-time if it's the 7th day worked.
