Air Reserve Technician

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) to test, troubleshoot, repair and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems, repair leaks of external/integrated tanks, and provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth therein. DUTIES: Receives work document(s) or oral instructions regarding problem with aircraft fuel system. Troubleshoots integral fuel tanks, using leak path analysis and other test procedures. Troubleshoots fuel cells to determine location of leaks. Accomplishes modifications and prepares components for storage or shipment. In performing duties, uses a variety of tools and equipment. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations. REQUIREMENTS: U.S. Citizenship Required Males must be registered for Selective Service Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours Employee must maintain current certifications Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG 8200-Fluid Systems Maintenance Group. JOB ELEMENTS: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Ability to install aircraft pneudraulic systems, equipment or accessories. Ability to overhaul, repair or fabricate aircraft pneudraulic equipment. Knowledge of safety and security requirements. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds), moderate lifting (15-44 lbs), light lifting (under 15 lbs), moderate carrying (15-44 lbs), light carrying (under 15 lbs), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (4 hours/week), standing (10 hours/week), crawling (1 hour/week), kneeling (1 hour/week), repeated bending (3 hours/week), climbing, use of legs and arms, operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, both eyes required, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (without aid), must be free from claustrophobia. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Outside, outside and inside (other than normal commuting), excessive heat, excessive cold, excessive humidity, excessive dampness or chilling, dry atmospheric conditions, excessive noise, intermittent, dust, solvents, grease and oils, radiant energy, electrical energy, slippery or uneven walking surface, working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles, working on ladders or scaffolding, vibration, working closely with others, working alone. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
