Boston Scientific's intravascular imaging business is experiencing rapid growth, resulting in a robust project and product pipeline. An R&D manager is needed to develop technology strategy, project cadence, and to support and develop the engineering team. The focus of the role is on improvement to existing commercialized products with influence and collaboration in the new product pipeline. This is an on-site role working directly with the team in Maple Grove, MN, with collaboration across BSC's global manufacturing and R&D footprint. Work Mode: At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be present in our Maple Grove, MN office, at least four to five days per week. Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Assists in and/or manages functional deliverables and ensures technical excellence for product or technical development. Provides guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches. Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff. Assists in and/or determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources. Works with project managers to understand priorities and plans resource and time allocation accordingly. Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships. Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues. Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results. Direct supervision of team of 6-10 engineers and technicians. Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering. Experience: 8+ years total experience with some of it in team leadership, mentoring, or project leadership. Technical strategy: determining solution pathways for complex technical projects, balancing risks and efficiency in execution while maintaining regulatory compliance. Portfolio prioritization and team organization: Taking stakeholder input, agreeing to priorities, making hard decisions what cannot be accomplished in order to enable team success. Mentoring and career development: Aligning team member responsibilities with their career goals to achieve business and individual success. Travel to internal sites for collaboration and to customer sites to support products. Approximately 10% or less. Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred engineering disciplines: Biomedical, Mechanical. Development experience in people leadership. Experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industry. Experience with imaging or other electrical-mechanical systems preferred. Experience with systems methodology preferred. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
