Help shape the future of national security computing as a Cloud Engineer at AWS. The AWS Cross Domain Operations team is seeking a cleared Cloud Engineer to support essential cross domain services for U.S. Intelligence and Defense customers. Our team maintains and operates the critical AWS infrastructure that enables secure cloud capabilities across classified environments. Your expertise will directly impact national security by ensuring the reliable operation of systems that government agencies depend on every day. As a Cloud Engineer on our team, you'll be instrumental in managing operational excellence for our always-on cross domain systems. You'll implement and maintain robust processes that drive our availability metrics up and our latency metrics down. We need your operational expertise to ensure our infrastructure is ready to scale for future demands, and your problem-solving skills to streamline processes and improve our response times. This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work. Key job responsibilities as a Cloud Engineer on our Cross Domain Operations team include: Support operational excellence initiatives for mission-critical systems, focusing on availability, resiliency, and security Diagnose and resolve system issues across the technology stack in high-pressure situations Implement improvements to operational processes, including automation of manual tasks Participate in post-incident analysis and help implement preventive measures Collaborate with development teams to provide operational insights that influence system design Perform technical deep-dives into service components, including networking, storage, and monitoring systems Contribute to cross-functional initiatives to improve system reliability Learn and apply operational best practices and resilience engineering principles You will work both independently and collaboratively within established operational frameworks. We're seeking someone who is curious about how systems work at scale and eager to help automate routine operations. Success in this role requires solid troubleshooting skills, a methodical approach to incident management, and the ability to balance day-to-day operational tasks with improvement projects. You'll need to maintain high standards for security and operational excellence while working effectively as part of a team. Basic qualifications include: Associate's degree or above, or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) 2+ years of Linux systems administration experience Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph Preferred qualifications include: 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience 1+ years of experience working with scripting language 1+ years experience with cloud computing technologies preferably with cross domain solutions Experience automating routine tasks Experience troubleshooting complex undefined issues through performance and log analysis Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $216,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
