Top Secret Software Engineer

Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Global team, is engineering, developing and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that currently protects the United States and its allies. The team is responsible for tasks such as sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface development, automated testing, cyber security, and enhancing other critical, leading-edge missile defense technologies. The work includes: Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, test and investigate innovative solutions Follow specifications in order to develop or modify functionality within the code Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards and improve overall efficiency of the system Please note: This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration. This position will involve around 10% travel to our customer sites throughout the U.S. As leader of the C2BMC team, Lockheed Martin directs a partnership of highly responsive industry leaders developing and fielding the backbone of America's missile defense. Together, this national team supports the design, development, test, integration and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will have the opportunity to interface with our key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). You will collaborate with a team of technical professionals including software and systems engineers, architects, and our project engineering team. A successful candidate must understand and be dedicated to the C2BMC Mission including Missile and Space Defense. The successful candidate will need to utilize good communication skills and good organizational skills to facilitate collaboration across the many organizations necessary to accomplish challenging missions. Basic qualifications: B.S. degree in Computer Science or in a STEM related field, OR equivalent experience. An active final Top Secret clearance is required prior to starting. Java programming experience Knowledge of software practices and coding standards Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend and develop a solution Desired skills: Familiarity with Java Spring Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes Knowledge of server side development and message passing Experience working as part of an Agile Team Experience developing enterprise applications Good working knowledge of MS Office products Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking Use of common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle and Eclipse Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
