Surface Maintenance Equipment Inspector
This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona with the CSMS. The purpose of the position is to serve as an inspector of surface maintenance equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. Duties involve complex inspection work that requires a wide variety of inspection processes and techniques. May assist higher graded inspectors, as required. This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position. Conditions of employment: Arizona Army National Guard membership is required. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the CSMS. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Incumbent must possess and maintain a current unrestricted, excluding glasses, state and military driver's license. Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Must possess and maintain access to the Arizona Army National Guard computer network (NIPR) and required systems. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain required GCSS (Global Combat Support System) - Army certification within 15 days of hire date. Incumbent must possess or be able to maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. Qualifications: Military Grades: SGT/E5 - MSG/1SG/E8 WO1/W1 - CW2/W2 Warrant Officer Candidate in the grades of E5-E8 Compatible Military Assignments: Enlisted: 88M, 91 Series, 92 Series, and/or 94 Series Warrant Officer: 882A, 91 Series, 92 Series, and/or 94 Series Specialized Experience: Must have at least 24 months experience or training leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify interconnected complex systems on a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Extensive knowledge of state of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and other major non-mechanical systems that have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of major mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls. Skill and knowledge to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modifications to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modifications to meet special test requirements or other special needs. Education: You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
