This position works Monday-Friday, 8:00a-4:00p with some flexibility. No weekends required! Optional 4/10s once CDL with P endorsement is obtained. Minor travel required to local hospitals and parking lots. Purpose:
The Fleet Mechanic I will perform minor component repair or replacement and assist with the removal, replacement, and repair of major components. Responsibilities:
Perform the following repairs or replacements: Preventive Maintenance Service, Front End/Tandem Axle alignments, Minor electrical system repairs. Identify defects in driveline, brake, electrical, cab, frame, suspension, steering, air, and related systems. Pickup and delivery of vehicles. Maintain work area appearance and safety. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Test drive trucks and buses to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications. Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. A Mechanic's tool set up to drive; typically including sockets, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and other tools for various repair and maintenance jobs on vehicles. Qualifications:
High school diploma OR equivalent required and 2 years of practical experience. Completion of a technical school/vocational school preferred. Practical experience in a vocational/technical school setting may count towards 2-year requirement. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required at time of hire or within 6 months of hire. CDL Passenger Endorsement required at time of hire or within 6 months of hire.
