Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted Position
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), technical authority responsible for coordinating the work of other journey-level workers to perform/advise scheduled or unscheduled inspections, repairs, replacements, troubleshoot, documentation, build-up and tear down, flightline maintenance and operational runs of aircraft propulsion systems installed or uninstalled, and to provide training to all assigned reservist personnel as required in the accomplishment of duties set forth herein. DUTIES: DUTY 1: Serves as technical authority to perform/coordinate/oversee troubleshooting and analysis of gas turbine engines to determine air worthiness of propulsion systems installed on aircraft on the flight-line and uninstalled in back shop and test cell capacities. Removes or installs entire propulsion systems from/on aircraft, test cell and maintenance stand working as a member or leader of a team. As lead, coordinates and certifies the work efforts of one to five subordinate technicians and other journey level mechanics. Maintain, inspect, operate and certify test cell and hush house. Leads engine run efforts and coordinates engine transportation, engine run clearance, fire department support and other outside agencies. DUTY 2: Coordinates, oversees and performs the disassembly, repair, overhaul, inspection and reassembly of aircraft propulsion systems, sub-assemblies, and components. Determines degree of disassembly required to repair or replace defective parts or components, make prescribed modifications and make final adjustments to achieve acceptable propulsion systems operation. DUTY 3: Skilled/certified in the operation and maintenance of diagnostic test equipment, on-board electronic equipment, a variety of special equipment, hand, measurement and power tools. Maintain certification on the completion of tasks requiring the use of various precision test/measurement equipment to include but not limited to Blade Blending, Rigid Borescope, Flexible Borescope w/measuring capabilities, Test Cell Operations, In Process Inspection, Bearing handling, etc. DUTY 4: Enforces and complies with safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Strictly adheres to safety procedures and regulations and promptly reports any observed or identified violations in accordance with established guidelines. Certify, utilize and enforce the work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program and applicable commercial aircraft/propulsion manuals. Analyze changes to the guidelines, as well as maintenance modification orders, to determine material, equipment and personnel needs and to perform technical reviews of the guidelines, to locate discrepancies or propose improvements to methods or specifications. Prepares effective training plans to maximize training for assigned personnel. Complies with required instruction, guidance and/or training and provides instruction, guidance and training to others. DUTY 5: Perform Engine Health Management (EHM) program duties and properly document propulsion system maintenance in historical records and the Maintenance Information System (MIS). Retrieve/interpret aircraft propulsion system performance data using specialized equipment to identify abnormalities/trends in engine health and direct maintenance actions as required. Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Required Males must be registered for Selective Service Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance as a condition of employment If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program This is a testing designated position (TDP). Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of gas turbine or reciprocating aircraft engines and accessory systems. Knowledge of engine repair practices to identify and correctly choose between alternative methods and trade techniques, adapt accepted repair procedures to new or unfamiliar engines or accessory systems, to anticipate required tools and parts, and to set up the work area. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of documentation procedures. Knowledge in the interpretation, certification and use of technical orders, manufacturers' manuals, engine records, maintenance bulletins, and other technical information. Skill in the use of measuring instruments such as vibration analyzers, pyrometers, engine analyzers, engine diagnostic computer systems, data transfer sets, and test benches. Ability to troubleshoot engine malfunctions, interpret trouble reports or observed instrument readings, appearances, etc., make a tentative diagnosis; select needed tools and test equipment; and disassemble the engine or accessory system to locate the defect. Ability to repair and rework engine parts and components and replace accessories such as portions of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
