Director Of Contracts
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Contracts to lead the contracts and purchasing function within a fast-growing organization that supports defense and government programs. This senior-level role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR), guiding complex negotiations, and shaping strategic business decisions. As the Director of Contracts, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while building and mentoring a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities Contract Leadership & Administration Draft, review, and negotiate prime contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements Ensure compliance with FAR, DFAR, CFR, DCMA, and DCAA requirements Manage contract modifications, change orders, and engineering change proposals Oversee contract closeouts, audits, and deliverable compliance Strategic Business Support Partner with Business Development on RFP analysis, risk assessments, and proposal preparation Provide strategic input during color team reviews and bid/no-bid decisions Anticipate contractual and performance risks, developing mitigation strategies for leadership Act as primary point of contact for government customers and industry partners Subcontract & Supplier Management Draft, issue, and administer subcontracts and supplier agreements with proper flow-downs Monitor subcontractor performance for compliance with scope, schedule, and terms Develop and implement subcontractor risk mitigation plans to ensure program continuity Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and evaluate the Contracts & Purchasing team Train staff in advanced negotiation techniques, cost/value analysis, and compliance standards Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field (advanced degree preferred) In-depth knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and government contracting principles Hands-on experience with contract types including FFP, CPFF, CPAF, CPIF, and T&M Proven ability to manage large, complex contracts within the defense industry Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance Proficiency with MS Office Suite and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Teams, SharePoint) Desired Qualifications Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or related field) NCMA certification (CPCM, CFCM, or CCCM) Experience leading contracts functions in a growth-stage defense contractor or similar high-paced environment Demonstrated expertise in cost/price analysis and advanced negotiation strategies Strong relationships with government acquisition agencies and industry partners
