General Manager, Business Support
ASAHI KASEI PLASTICS SINGAPORE PTE LTD, West Islip, New York, United States
Reporting to Managing Director and working closely with all business units. This role requires to mentor and lead the Business Support function in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business Support General Manager has responsibilities and authority relating to the management of all functions below at Asahi Kasei Plant in Singapore:
Accounts
Business Support (Admin)
Human Resource
IT, Planning & Coordination
Supply Chain (Purchase and Logistics)
Participate in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all departments’ activities to develop long range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth.
Review activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives.
Review operations and plans to meet requirements for sales and to ascertain resources for manufacturing are met.
Working closely with Accounts Manager to review and approve of accounting result for budgetary planning, production efficiency, financial reporting and submission of capital expenditures.
Set Budget schedule planner for yearly and revised budget period, work closely with all departments on deadlines compliance for each task to formulate the budget preparation process.
Resources include human resources and specialized skills, organizational infrastructure, technology and financial resources.
Preparation for HR yearly and revised budget
Negotiation with Union for annual increment, variable bonuses and Collective Agreement.
Budget preparation on half-yearly and yearly basis, preparation of Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow cost projections, product cost, transfer price, trend analysis, variances explanation, budget meeting materials preparations, provide budget explanation to Top Management prior to Budget hearing.
Expatriates personal income matters
Preparation of 2+4 or 3+3 forecast reports for AKC Xyron business requirements in timely manner.
Preparation for transfer price settlement based on 5+1 approach in March and September period.
Assist in internal/external audits including local statutory audits, JSOX compliance, tax audits as required.
Develop Sales Strategy planning and growth of company’s business.
Achieves sales objectives within product range or assigned districts.
Liaising with internal departments to better communicate and improve work relations to support sales & marketing activities.
Observe the Market trend.
Liaise closely with the Headquarter in Japan with all the stakeholders.
Other Strategic Roles
Plant & Property, External warehouse, CGL insurance negotiation with Tokio Marine Insurance
GH &S, Workmen Comp, PA insurance negotiation with GE Life insurance
Liaise with Enterprise Singapore, EDB and MTI on FTAs issues
Communication links between company and EDB, MTI, JTC and other statutory bodies for strategic planning, business/operation expansion,
Negotiate potential/available Incentive scheme for the Company, eg., Investment Allowance
Experience/Skills Required
Qualified CA with minimum 10 years of relevant regional finance/accounting experience with an MNC, including at least 8 years of supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of
FRS reporting . Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills Good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with different levels of internal and external stakeholders. Independent and self-motivated. Ability to balance a hands-on role with decision making responsibilities as required of the position. ERP system experience (familiarity with SAP a plus)
and proficient with MS Office applications including Advanced Excel, Word and Power-point. Willing to work in Jurong Island area Desired Skills and Experience Business Process, Cost Management, Finance, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, IFRS, FRS Accounting Standard, Internal Controls, Cash flow Management. HR management and people skill is desirable.
