In this position, you will inspect and repair the rigging on a variety of boats at a full-service boat yard. We use Marine Travelifts to haul out and set down boats. You will perform key repair and maintenance tasks, such as identifying problems in sailboat rigging (standing and running) and repairing them. You will also work on mast electronics and other boating components. The role requires a deep understanding of boat mechanics and repair skills. It often involves going aloft on sailboat masts, so a fear of heights is a must. While formal marine training at a technical school is preferred, we may consider candidates without this background. Responsibilities Aid in unstepping and stepping masts De-rig and rig masts Install and test mast electrical components Perform various repair and maintenance tasks as needed Answer clients' questions about boat maintenance Repair faulty rigging components Fill out accurate service records and repair documents Ensure high customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Formal marine mechanic training (preferred) Previous experience in a similar role (preferred) Deep knowledge of boat components Excellent mechanical skills and proficiency with tools and techniques
