ELECTRICAL SUPERINTENDENT
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site electrical activities on construction projects, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract documents and applicable codes. This role serves as the field leader for the electrical scope of work, managing crews, coordinating subcontractors, and driving schedule adherence. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in electrical systems and proven experience in industrial construction. The Electrical Superintendent plays a critical role in field coordination, quality control, safety enforcement, and effective communication with the project team and trade partners.
Qualifications:
Required:
5-10+ years of experience in the electrical trade with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role
High school diploma or GED required
Extensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including distribution, instrumentation and controls
Strong understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA, and electrical safety standards
Journeyman or Master Electrician license (as required by project location)
Demonstrated experience initiating and driving continuous improvement
Current OSHA 30 certification
Preferred:
Two or four-year degree in construction related field
10+ years of field-related experience
Bilingual with the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English

Planning & Coordination
Participate in and may lead preconstruction efforts, including:
Crisis management planning
Site logistics and safety plan development
Review and application of site-specific rules and regulations

Conduct and contribute to pre-job walkthroughs and kickoff meetings
Design Support & Constructability
Provide constructability input during early design and preconstruction phases
Evaluate project complexity, electrical systems needs, and installation methods
Offer recommendations for pre-fabrication, modularization, and material staging
Estimating & Procurement
Review electrical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for feasibility and clarity
Assist estimating teams with labor unit benchmarking, production expectations, and sequencing strategies
Identify long-lead items and coordinate procurement schedules with the project team
Ensure labor, material, and equipment budgets are established and validated before mobilization
Schedule & Manpower Planning
Contribute to preliminary project schedules and manpower loading
Participate in planning logistics strategies, crew ramp-up/down timelines, and delivery coordination
Client & Pursuit Support
Assist pursuit teams with proposals and interviews by offering input on:
Site logistics and constructability
Safety and risk mitigation plans
Preliminary scheduling and subcontractor considerations
Participate in QA/AC (Quality Assurance/Alignment Check) page-turn sessions to align teams on execution expectations
Field Leadership & Execution
Lead and supervise the execution of all on-site subcontracted electrical work.
Provide comprehensive oversight of McGough field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on active projects.
Supervise Assistant Superintendents and review weekly work plans, schedules, and site logistics.
Troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges, including delays, scope issues, and labor conflicts.
Maintain day-to-day oversight of installation quality, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and applicable codes.
Schedule & Productivity Management
Implement and maintain the project schedule; ensure regular updates in coordination with Project Management.
Maintain and communicate look-ahead schedules; align tasks with master construction timelines.
Track labor productivity and material usage; identify and report variances to the project team.
Support Superintendents and Project Managers with CPM scheduling and apply principles of the Last Planner System.
Participate in weekly and daily planning sessions and Pull-Planning activities.
Safety & Quality Assurance
Champion a culture of safety; lead orientations, safety meetings, and enforce regulatory compliance (OSHA and others).
Enforce jobsite safety standards and conduct daily safety inspections.
Oversee implementation of the site-specific Quality Control plan in partnership with QC and PM teams.
Ensure jobsite documentation (drawings, logs, inspections, etc.) is current and compliant.
Project & Subcontractor Coordination
Coordinate daily and long-term planning with other trades, the general contractor, and the project management team.
Organize and lead Superintendent and coordination meetings to ensure cross-functional alignment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and internal McGough stakeholders.
Collaborate on subcontractor performance tracking, compliance, and execution consistency.
Project Planning & Preconstruction Support
Assist with procurement, subcontractor selection, and trade scope reviews.
Perform quantity take-offs and support bid solicitation and evaluation efforts.
Participate in estimating, value engineering, and early-stage project planning.
Documentation & Communication
Review and manage project drawings, specifications, and electronic documentation workflows.
Draft and process RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings; support BIM coordination, when applicable.
Maintain field-level reporting and communication with project management regarding cost, schedule, and quality.
Budget & Cost Oversight
Monitor and manage labor, materials, and equipment budgets; forecast costs and identify deviations.
Assist in processing subcontractor change orders and invoice reviews in collaboration with PMs.
Project Closeout & Turnover
Support punch list completion, commissioning, final inspections, and owner training.
Ensure proper documentation and handover of systems in alignment with project closeout protocols.
Lean Construction & Company Integration
Lead Lean construction efforts, including standard work practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Integrate McGough's self-perform capabilities, warehouse resources, tools, and equipment into planning and execution.
Foster collaboration, uphold company values, and reinforce alignment with The McGough Way.
People Management
Hiring & Training: Participate in talent acquisition and onboarding; identify skills gaps and promote ongoing learning

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $104,000 to $155,000, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience.
