Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
Under general direction from the Director of Athletic Training, the Associate Director Sports Medicine supports the planning, coordination, operation and evaluation of athletic training operations for the intercollegiate athletics program.
Essential Functions
Oversees two (2) Assistant Directors of Sports Medicine.
Serves as primary liaison for the Student-Athlete Care Team; collaborating with Counseling and Psychological Services.
Administers daily treatment, rehabilitation, and preventative measures for student-athletes.
Evaluates student-athletes medical histories and pre-participation exams to determine clearance for athletic activities.
Evaluates and assesses student-athletes for treatment and/or referral to other medical resources, as appropriate.
Tracks and monitors student-athlete injuries through resolution.
Serves as a liaison to the Director of Athletic Training, team physician(s), Director of Athletic Performance, and sport team head coaches in the provision of student-athlete care.
Attends team practices and competitions.
Supervises athletic training students.
Aids in administration of athletic training program policies and procedures.
Acts as Director in their absence or as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelors Degree in athletic training or related field. Three (3) years of related experience NATABOC certification. CPR , AED and First Aid certification. Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree. Seven (7) years related experience as part of an NCAA Division I Sports Medicine team. Ability to assess athletic injuries and conditions in student-athletes and develop action plans for desired results. Ability to motivate student-athletes and student athletic trainers to achieve expected results. Good time management and organizational skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Understanding and knowledge of best practices to ensure student-athlete welfare. Basic computer skills including basic proficiency with MS Office. Solid knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work. Physical Requirements

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Work is performed primarily in standard office environment during standard business hours. Work will also be required during non-regular office hours to fulfill business needs.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
