Staff Software Engineer, Android SDK As a Staff Software Engineer, you will partner with Product Management, Architects, Engineering, and Operations as a senior team member. You have extensive hands-on technical expertise coupled with ingenuity and excellent communication skills. You will use your understanding of Android, SDKs, frameworks, and developer tools, applying industry-standard best practices to create fluid, performant experiences with maximum extensivity. You will assist in driving our next-generation cross-platform mobile application, applying industry standard best practices and implementation to fluid performant experiences with maximum extensively. Responsibilities: Design, build, and integrate SDKs and developer tools to streamline development across mobile and console teams, enhancing efficiency and collaboration. Lead the mobile app development using Agile methodologies like Scrum, delivering iterative improvements and meeting project milestones. Driving forward research, development, and implementation of Android features, tools, frameworks, SDKs, and high-performance, innovative technical solutions. Collaborate closely with international teams of architects, partners and product managers (USA, Japan, UK) to translate requirements into actionable work packages, creating engaging mobile user experiences. Identify performance bottlenecks and craft solutions to improve customer delight. Required Qualifications: Genuine passion for crafting seamless, intuitive user experiences, prioritizing usability and performance. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years of experience in developing single-page web applications or mobile applications. Strong understanding of mobile landscapes, architectures, and trends in Android development, including emerging technologies. Proficiency in Android (Java/Kotlin and Android Studio) development. Proven experience with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum. Demonstrated ability to lead, measure, and optimize SDK and application performance, with a focus on SDK response time and efficient network usage Ability to build strong partnerships with architects and engineers to influence technology decisions Excel at documenting designs, implementation, and tests for international teams. Have up-to-date knowledge of APIs such as DirectX 11/12 and, OpenGL 4.x and Vulkan. At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each roles base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
