What you'll do... The
Staff Data Scientist
in the Data Science team will play a crucial role as an architect, leading AI explorations, research, algorithmic solution creation, and fast prototyping aimed to deliver impactful initiatives within the Sam's Club division of Walmart Inc. The position involves developing the foundational ML/AI models that will drive a tailored and enjoyable member experience across our eCommerce, Scan & Go, and in-club shopping interactions.

You’ll sweep us off our feet if…
You have experience in the development of large-scale production systems, Knowledge of Search, information retrieval and ranking systems.
You have experience building large scale ML systems in public cloud like Azure, Google etc
Experience working with LLMs and building Agents
3+ years of experience in applied machine learning, familiar with algorithms such as Collaborative Filtering, Matrix Factorization, Word2Vec, Deep Neural Networks, Wide and Deep, etc.
Skilled in programming languages like Python, Java, R, or Scala, and large-scale training using data structures and algorithms.
Experience with machine learning software such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe, Scikit-Learn, or Spark MLlib.
Experience with cloud environments such as Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
Solid MLOps practices including good design documentation, unit testing, integration testing, and source control (git).
Familiarity with agile methodologies using project planning and tracking tools like JIRA.
Curiosity about how things work and excitement for solving challenges at the scale of a Fortune 1 Retailer.
You’ll make an impact by…
Leading a team of Data Scientists and Engineers focused on backend infrastructure for AI/ML solutions.
Partnering with Product and engineering leaders to drive innovations in discovery experiences via insights, frameworks, causal inference, and prototypes.
Managing full project lifecycle from planning, data collection, to deployment, including stakeholder communication.
Building MLOps frameworks to create, deploy, and continuously test and personalize user experiences.
Additional Qualification Preferred:
Experience in retail, eCommerce, marketing, personalization, or recommendation systems.
Knowledge of causal inference, A/B testing, multi-arm bandit, and multivariate testing.
Experience with advertising targeting & measurement, uplift modeling, marketing-mix models, multi-touch attribution.
Experience with GCP, BigQuery, Dataproc, Vertex AI.
Experience with Hybrid Search systems and optimization techniques like simulation, LP, MIP.
Familiarity with MLOps tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, Kubeflow.
Experience designing APIs in Python.
