We are seeking a
Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer
to join our team. This role involves designing substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV to 500kV. Candidates will utilize knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to develop electrical projects, gaining exposure to power generation, including renewable energy integration. *Hybrid options available for the Chicago, IL team (2-4 days in-office per week) Successful candidates can expect a dynamic, diverse work environment with flexible hours and career development opportunities, including: Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) Professional Engineer License (PE) Project Management Professional (PMP) Technical & Non-Technical Training Leadership and Mentorship Opportunities Team Leadership and Growth Opportunities Additional experience gained in this role includes: Engagement with local and national utility clients Work on various projects from distribution to transmission levels Electrical power calculations Collaboration with disciplines like Telecom and Civil Structural Engineering Are you ready to make an impact? The Responsibilities: Design relay one-line diagrams Develop three-line AC schematics Create DC protection schematics Design panel layouts and wiring Develop bills of materials based on design criteria Conduct quality control on wiring designs Support the project lifecycle from scoping to implementation Assist with construction and ensure compliance with safety codes and client standards What Sets You Apart: Bachelor's in electrical engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience for Senior level 8+ years of experience for Lead level Experience with substation protection/control projects and field testing/commissioning Strong communication, design, and project management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to travel as needed Preferred Qualifications: US Citizenship and ability to pass DOE background check EIT or PE certifications Experience with CAD tools and quality control on projects Master's degree and field testing experience are a plus About Leidos: Leidos is a trusted provider of power delivery solutions, working with utilities and mobile operators nationwide.
