This team maintains the critical physical infrastructure supporting AWS, ensuring that the data center's MEP systems operate at 100% availability while providing excellent customer service. The

Data Center Chief Engineer (CE)

is responsible for the operation and efficiency of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. This includes planned preventative maintenance, corrective work, and emergency response. The CE interacts with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and third-party vendors, serving as a focal point for facility operations within the data center. Key responsibilities include managing critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling systems, and building monitoring systems; performing root cause analysis; training technicians; supporting facility build-outs and projects; working outside normal hours for maintenance and emergencies; and collaborating with IT and business leaders to optimize performance and safety. Physical requirements involve lifting weights, working in various physical conditions, and adhering to safety protocols, including working in environments requiring ear protection. This role involves hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment, managing projects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Basic qualifications: Technical training or degree in electrical, mechanical, or related fields. At least 3 years of electrical or mechanical experience. At least 3 years of experience in data center or mission-critical facilities. Preferred qualifications: Over 4 years of data center engineering experience. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree.
