As a Battery Reliability Engineer, you will identify high risk failure modes early in the design life cycle, and collaborate with design engineering teams to reduce the risk. You will develop new stress conditions based on the physics of failure and expected user behaviors, and implement the necessary equipment and specifications that are critical to validate product reliability. You will assess customer-facing reliability through stress test data analysis, and work with vendors to meet reliability requirements. Finally, you will support failure analysis, providing design direction based on your evaluation of the test data and failure root cause understanding. To be successful in this role, your ability to establish and maintain interdepartmental relationship is critical. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (engineering, physics, chemistry, etc.) 3+ years of industry experience in an engineering role Deep understanding of the physics behind material and device properties (mechanical, electrical, chemical) Experience working in a lab environment with focus on understanding the root cause of failures Proficiency in statistical data analysis and the ability to communicate your results clearly to others Ability to identify root cause and recommend corrective actions based on results from multiple data sources Collaborative attitude and ability to effectively work cross-functionally Ability to travel internationally without restriction Preferred Qualifications

M.S. or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent field 5+ years of experience in an engineering role Familiarity with electrochemistry and battery technology Experience with statistical data analysis tools such as JMP or Weibull++ Experience with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and reliability prediction modeling Familiarity with failure analysis and materials characterization techniques (microscopy, spectroscopy, etc.) and the ability to use these tools to determine the root cause of failures At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
