This large municipality is looking to have a Sr. Security Engineer joing their to to lead and manage security projects from initiation through close: define scope, identify stakeholders and drivers, schedule and run meetings, capture and circulate meeting notes and action items, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of milestones.

They will also perform and coordinate external vendor security assessments: prepare assessment scopes, run assessments or coordinate third-party assessments, document findings, and follow up on remediation. The will be responbile for operating and optimize EDR tooling: maintain configurations, tune detections, assist in incident triage as needed, and collaborate with SOC/ops teams to improve endpoint visibility and response. Design, implement, and refine SOAR playbooks and automations: review current Rapid7 InsightConnect configurations, identify automation opportunities, build and test workflows, and measure automation effectiveness. Alsoo will run vulnerability management activities: schedule and tune scans, triage findings, prioritize remediation based on risk, coordinate with system/application owners, and own reporting and metrics around vulnerability trends and program health. Support incident response when needed, ensuring incidents are tracked and lessons learned feed back into projects, SOAR playbooks, and vulnerability remediation processes. This position will be onsite 5 days a week regular hours 8-5 and 1 week of on call per month.

Skills and Requirements

8-10 Years of experience as a Security Engineer

Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2) and experience conducting external vendor security assessments.

Hands-on experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools (CrowdStrike preferred; other EDR platforms acceptable).

Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) tooling - Rapid7 InsightConnect experience is a plus - and ability to design, build, and improve automations.

Strong vulnerability management knowledge and tool experience (Tenable and/or Rapid7 VM preferred) plus a solid understanding of the vulnerability lifecycle and remediation coordination.

Understands auditing and has experience with Either: PCI, HIPPA or CJIS auditing practices

Experience managing and pushing large security projects to completion Any state local or education work experience

Prior experience formalizing or maturing security programs.

Familiarity with cloud security controls and tooling (AWS, Azure, GCP) to align vulnerability and EDR efforts across environments. null
