At least two (2) years of equivalent work experience in the field of Information Technology or an Associate degree in computer science, management information systems can substitute for the experience in Information Technology. At least two (2) years of experience server and storage system administration in a Windows server environment. Meet requirements to become Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certified. Preferences
Certification in one or more of the following: Microsoft Server Administration, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Palo Alto Network. Experience with hypervisor systems, server and storage system management tools and software, backup and patching tools, TCP/IP network communications and server monitoring. Duties and Responsibilities
This position serves as a system administrator within the Server Support Section in the Bureau of Departmental Systems (BDIS) at the Florida Department of State Department. Responsible for proactive server and storage system health measures. Assists server support team with creation, maintenance, and deallocation of server resources for the Department, both on-premises and in the cloud. Establishes and calculates optimum values for server parameters using established methods. Monitors file server and storage system performance. Assists server support team identifying and solving any problems that arise with file server and storage systems and related system resources. Assists with review, testing and installation of file server updates and patches. Assists with the review, testing and installation of storage system OS upgrades. Collaborate and coordinate with the BDIS Office of Information Security (OIS) team members to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Responsible for writing and maintaining logical and physical system descriptions including location, space, access, method, and security. Responsible for design, development, and testing of disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions and backup systems as it relates to file server and storage system functionality. Conduct research on file server and storage system services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the server administration industry. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems. Strong understanding of cloud-based systems and how they integrate with on-premises systems as well as other cloud solutions, Knowledge of storage systems. Knowledge of scripting, such as PowerShell. Other Job Related Requirements: Maintains consistent and reliable attendance and complies with agency guidelines on attendance. This position is designated to serve in an on-call status. When activated, the incumbent must respond to the call within 15 minutes, and if necessary, arrive on-site within 1 hour. Important Notices
