CNC Lathe And CNC Mill Setup Machinist Or Operator
We have operations in Saint Louis, Missouri, Huntington Beach, California, and Milford, Connecticut, serving local, national and international customers, both military and commercial. The company supplies platform controls, aircraft components, liquid oxygen equipment, and emergency breathing equipment to its customers.
Position Summary: We are recruiting for both CNC Lathe and CNC Mill Setup Machinists or Operators to manufacture Aerospace and Medical component parts. The operator must be able to hold tolerances up to +/- 0.0005" and understand FANUC or MAZATROL controls. Operator must also have previous experience operating one or multiple of the machines listed below:
- MAZAK (MAZAK 5X, VCN430A2, VCU400A5X)
- LATHE OKUMA (Genos L250II-e)
- LATHE SWISS (StarCNC SB -16, SV20)
- HAAS (VF-2SS, VF-1)
- HAAS ST20Y
Essential Duties:
- Expertly use most hand, manual, and CNC machinery, fixturing and precision measuring equipment to complete departmental assignments.
- Maintain knowledge of additional pieces of equipment.
- Program machine, fixturing, material, and paperwork preparation such as sharpening, locating, verifying, programming, editing, etc.
- Set up and proof CNC machines for production runs to achieve a first piece quality product.
- Set-up Times and Run Times; monitor for accuracy and feedback necessary changes to programmer/lead/supervisor.
- Monitor condition of job specific tooling or holding fixtures, make authorized changes.
- Keep waste low, minimize scrap, use labor efficiently and account for all parts on jobs.
- Operate machinery above company standards for both time and quality.
- Suggest and implement improvements to machining processes.
- Improve on product through-put via additional operations such as multiple machine operation, deburring, cleaning, etc. whenever possible.
- Keep machinery and work area clean, safe, maintained and organized.
- Assist in other areas in order to meet the production needs of Essex and its customers.
- Comply with all PPE and machine guarding as necessary with each job.
- Identify and use proper tools per set up sheet.
- Interpret blueprints and a basic understanding of GD&T.
- Trouble shoot tool issues based upon part quality (surface finish, hole size, correct radius, etc.).
- Understand how feeds and speeds affect part quality and tool life.
- Understand machining codes to interpret machine operations in the program (G-Code and M-Code).
Requirements:
- 5+ Years of Aerospace CNC machining preferred. 1-3 years of shop experience required, 2-yr trade school completion or equivalent demonstrated proficiency.
- The pay for this position starts at a minimum of $28.00 per/hr. when the minimum job requirements are met and goes up based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications in a similar role. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance.
