CNC Horizontal Mill Machinist - 3rd Shift
We are seeking a dedicated CNC Horizontal Mill Machinist for the third shift to manufacture firefighting equipment including handline nozzles, apparatus valves/fittings, industrial valves, adapters, caps, and plugs. This role involves both the setup and operation of CNC Horizontal Mill machining centers.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Horizontal Mill machining centers.
- Perform setups and change outs, accounting for 40% of your time.
- Monitor machine runs, perform inspections, and clean work areas for 60% of your time.
- Conduct 1 to 3 setups per shift, managing runs of 20 to 200 parts each.
- Operate Toyoda and Okuma Horizontal Milling Centers, running two machines simultaneously.
- Read and interpret component prints or drawings.
- Use micrometers and calipers to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools and attachments on machines using hand tools.
- Perform touch editing of CNC mill machinery.
- Maintain a tolerance of +/- .002.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience in setup, change outs, offsets, and operation of CNC Milling machinery.
- Proficient in utilizing precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Experience working with tight tolerances up to +/- .002.
- Understanding of G & M codes for tooling changes and offset adjustments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints with up to 100 dimensions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with 4 and 5 axis Mills.
- G & M programming and editing experience.
- Job shop experience, indicating extensive experience with change-outs.

Work Environment
This position operates within a manufacturing setting, where older equipment is gradually being upgraded. The facility includes a foundry attached to the machining building, resulting in an oily and dirty environment. The third shift runs from 10:55 pm to 6:55 am, with a $2.50/hour shift premium. The dress code requires appropriate attire to handle the work environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
